Top Tip

  • When securing a hair roller with a pin, ensure that you insert the pin upwards for a much tighter result.
  • Roll the rollers under for root volume and over for a glamourous 1950's pin-up look.
  • Allow each roller to properly cool then add a cold shot from your dryer at the end this will really set your curls.
  •

Top Tip

  • For a more natural look, take random sections of hair, waving some sections and leaving others straight.
  • Start by positioning the styler midway down each hair section, leaving the roots straight.

Top Tip

  • If you want tight curls then wrap small sections of hair tightly round the barrel and leave to curl for a few seconds.
  • For looser waves wrap wider sections of hair around the barrel.
  • For a modern look don't wind the barrel up to the root. Leave a couple of inches straight at the root.

Top Tip

  • For best results point the barrel downwards and then wrap the hair around.

  • For a more beachy, casual look, run your fingers through the waves to break them up

Waver Top Tip

  • For best results, ensure that the end of the hair section is securely held under the spoon or clamp in the direction of the desired curl.
  • Wind the tong up towards the hair root or as far up the hair section as you want curls. For a more modern curl, don't wind the tong right the way up to the top of the hair section; instead, leave at least seven centimetres from the root to the start of the curl.
  • Hold the curling tong in the hair for five to eight seconds and then press the lever to release the spoon or clamp. Carefully slide the tong out of the hair.
  • Leave the curl to cool so that it sets fully in the hair before you comb out or style further.
  • For a more tousled look, run your fingers through the curls to break them up once the hair has cooled down.

Top Tip

  • Use smaller rollers for tighter curls.

  • Use larger rollers for bigger curls or waves for soft body and movement.

  • Add volume at the root by using three or four large rollers at the crown of the hair.

Top Tip

  • For more delicate, fine hair it is always best to use lower heat settings.
  • To create a variety of styles from a soft tousled beach wave to a classic 40's finger wave use a triple barrel waver.  This method is much quicker than plaiting your hair and waiting for hours.
